The Donegal Angling Centre

Angling made...easier

Welcome to the Donegal Angling Centre. As you can see, we're in the process of a complete re-design of the website. We're also adding an on-line store NOW OPEN!!! where you can browse a vast range of tackle and angling supplies at great prices. We've expanded our range to cover the needs of freshwater and saltwater anglers with products from all the top suppliers and manufacturers. We'll have great weekly deals in the online shop on an on-going basis as we add inventory (these will not be available in-store), so check back often.

Our physical store is still open Monday through Saturday 09:30-17:30 with late opening until 21:00 on Thursdays. We're closed on Sundays (but the online store is open 24/7/365)

Get it while it's COLD!

Latest Angling News

This weeks angling news from the North-West

Updated weekly, we'll have a roundup of all the latest angling news, covering shore and boat angling, fishery reports and more. Check out the 'News' link on the navigation bar to the right for full details. We'll also maintain an archive of the weekly news.

The colder weather is starting to throw up decent catches of pollock, coalie and various flatfish from the beaches. Also beginning to show are whiting and even a few codling, although these are quite small. Pollock up to 6lbs and coalie to over 2lbs are reported. The flatfish appear to be about in numbers and are in excellent condition.

Angela Crerand from Rathmullan Charters and the Lough Swilly Sea Angling Club reports that the clubs' annual presentation dinner will be held in the Beachcomber, Rathmullan on Friday 21st November.

Magheroarty and the Islands Sea Angling Club will be holding their AGM on Monday Nov 17th at 8pm in the Community Centre. All members are asked to attend.

Gerry Friel from the Lough Na Tooey Rainbow Trout Fishery in Creeslough reports that last week was again busy with anglers out on the Lough whenever weather permitted. Some of last week's successful anglers included Kevin and Noel McCrossan from Letterkenny who had a cracking day, fishing New Zealand style nymphs two feet under the surface suspended from a bigger dry fly also used as a strike indicator.

This technique was used to land no fewer than 20 hard fighting Rainbows in a short space of time! Club member, Ed Moore also hit the double figure mark, this time fishing traditional wet fly patterns. The best fish of the week fell to Evan Ashman from Illistrin, who returned again to the fishery with a beautiful, fin-perfect rainbow of 3.5 lbs.

The Fishery will now close at 4 pm every day for these coming winter months. Angling tickets will be for full day fishing only and there will be a one fish entitlement on the fishing ticket. For bookings or any further fishery information please contact the Fishery on 0851751222
